20:1 When you go out to war against other nations, and come face to face with horses and war-carriages and armies greater in number than yourselves, have no fear of them: for the Lord your God is with you, who took you up out of the land of Egypt.
20:1 你出去与仇敌争战的时候,看见马匹,车辆,并有比你多的人民,不要怕他们,因为领你出埃及地的耶和华你神与你同在。
20:2 And when you are on the point of attacking, let the priest come forward and say to the people,
20:2 你们将要上阵的时候,祭司要到百姓面前宣告,
20:3 Give ear, O Israel: today you are going forward to the fight; let your heart be strong; do not let uncontrolled fear overcome you because of those who are against you;
20:3 说,以色列人哪,你们当听,你们今日将要与仇敌争战,不要胆怯,不要惧怕战兢,也不要因他们惊恐。
20:4 For the Lord your God goes with you, fighting for you to give you salvation from those who are against you.
20:4 因为耶和华你们的神与你们同去,要为你们与仇敌争战,拯救你们。
20:5 And let the overseers say to the people, If there is any man who has made for himself a new house and has not gone into it, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another may not take his house for himself.
20:5 官长也要对百姓宣告说,谁建造房屋,尚未奉献,他可以回家去,恐怕他阵亡,别人去奉献。
20:6 Or if any man has made a vine-garden without taking the first-fruits of it, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another may not be the first to make use of the fruit.
20:6 谁种葡萄园,尚未用所结的果子,他可以回家去,恐怕他阵亡,别人去用。
20:7 Or if any man is newly married and has had no sex relations with his wife, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another man may not take her.
20:7 谁聘定了妻,尚未迎娶,他可以回家去,恐怕他阵亡,别人去娶。
20:8 And let the overseers go on to say to the people, If there is any man whose heart is feeble with fear, let him go back to his house before he makes the hearts of his countrymen feeble.
20:8 官长又要对百姓宣告说,谁惧怕胆怯,他可以回家去,恐怕他弟兄的心消化,和他一样。
20:9 Then, after saying these words to the people, let the overseers put captains over the army.
20:9 官长对百姓宣告完了,就当派军长率领他们。
20:10 When you come to a town, before attacking it, make an offer of peace.
20:10 你临近一座城,要攻打的时候,先要对城里的民宣告和睦的话。
20:11 And if it gives you back an answer of peace, opening its doors to you, then all the people in it may be put to forced work as your servants.
20:11 他们若以和睦的话回答你,给你开了城,城里所有的人都要给你效劳,服事你。
20:12 If however it will not make peace with you, but war, then let it be shut in on all sides:
20:12 若不肯与你和好,反要与你打仗,你就要围困那城。
20:13 And when the Lord your God has given it into your hands, let every male in it be put to death without mercy.
20:13 耶和华你的神把城交付你手,你就要用刀杀尽这城的男丁。
20:14 But the women and the children and the cattle and everything in the town and all its wealth, you may take for yourselves: the wealth of your haters, which the Lord your God has given you, will be your food.
20:14 惟有妇女,孩子,牲畜,和城内一切的财物,你可以取为自己的掠物。耶和华你神把你仇敌的财物赐给你,你可以吃用。
20:15 So you are to do to all the towns far away, which are not the towns of these nations.
20:15 离你甚远的各城,不是这些国民的城,你都要这样待他。
20:16 But in the towns of these peoples whose land the Lord your God is giving you for your heritage, let no living thing be kept from death:
20:16 但这些国民的城,耶和华你神既赐你为业,其中凡有气息的,一个不可存留。
20:17 Give them up to the curse; the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, as the Lord your God has given you orders:
20:17 只要照耶和华你神所吩咐的将这赫人,亚摩利人,迦南人,比利洗人,希未人,耶布斯人都灭绝净尽,
20:18 So that you may not take them as your example and do all the disgusting things which they do in the worship of their gods, so sinning against the Lord your God.
20:18 免得他们教导你们学习一切可憎恶的事,就是他们向自己神所行的,以致你们得罪耶和华你们的神。
20:19 If in war a town is shut in by your armies for a long time, do not let its trees be cut down and made waste; for their fruit will be your food; are the trees of the countryside men for you to take up arms against them?
20:19 你若许久围困,攻打所要取的一座城,就不可举斧子砍坏树木。因为你可以吃那树上的果子,不可砍伐。田间的树木岂是人,叫你糟蹋吗?
20:20 Only those trees which you are certain are not used for food may be cut down and put to destruction: and you are to make walls of attack against the town till it is taken.
20:20 惟独你所知道不是结果子的树木可以毁坏,砍伐,用以修筑营垒,攻击那与你打仗的城,直到攻塌了。
